How AliExpress coins cut your price
- 100 coins = USD 1
- The discount cap differs per item — we measured 1% to 10%
- The cap is written on search result cards, not on the product page
AliExpress coins are worth USD 1 per 100 coins. The catch is that you cannot spend as many as you like on any item — each item has its own cap, expressed as a percentage of the price, and that number does not appear on the product detail page.
How much is the cap, per item?
These are values we read while signed in, building the AliCheap extension. Within the results of a single search term, the cap already varied this much:
| Within one set of search results | Coin discount cap |
|---|---|
| Most common value (three items) | 2% |
| Highest | 10% |
| In between | 5% |
| Lowest | 1% |
This comes from one search. Read it as a sample showing that the cap differs per item, not as the distribution across all of AliExpress.
The cap is not shown on the product page
The coin cap is printed only on search result cards, in the form “Extra N% off with coins”. The product detail page does not display it at all. That is why it is so easy to look at a product page and conclude “coins do not work on this item”.
So if you want to know the cap, you have to read the card on the search results screen before you click through. If you already opened the detail page, the only way back to the number is to search again and find the same item’s card.
“Earn coins on this item” is not the cap
Product pages sometimes say something like “you can earn coins on this item”. That is about earning, not about the spending cap. Confuse the two and you will budget with coins you cannot actually spend, then meet a higher number at checkout.
One more that trips people up: “coupon if delivery is late” is a late-delivery compensation, not a discount coupon. You receive it if the parcel is late — it does not make today’s price any lower.
Checking how many coins you have
On desktop, use the AliExpress coin page. Underneath the coin count there is a “discount available” figure in currency, which is the number you actually care about. Note that the desktop page does not show expiry dates — for those you need the app.
Spend coins where the cap is high
One coin is worth the same everywhere, so “which item should I spend them on” makes no difference to the amount saved. What actually matters is whether you can spend them before they expire. On a 1%-cap item, a large balance simply cannot be used up; on a 10%-cap item, the same balance clears.
What this means for the prices on this site
Every price on AliCheap is item price + shipping − coin discount, in Korean won, for delivery to South Korea. We show the coin cap rather than a final figure, because the actual deduction depends on the balance in your account — and we never see your account. Anyone claiming an exact coin discount without knowing your balance is guessing.
